"High School Student Economy"

Yesterday, while I was laying in bed
I became troubled with a thought in my head
I realized a minimum wage salary
with no tips that people would give to me,
does not create a large enough income
to be worth it in the long run.
So why save my money now?
I make so little for the sweat on my brow
I'm going to spend all the money I make.
I'll by an accordion, an expensive steak
Yes, this is my decision, an end to my rage!
No more will I be a foot soldier for the cages
Student workers should be payed higher
Company managers are cheap liars
that take advantage of people like me
cut back by parents desperate for money.

  1. I completely agree, minnimum wage jobs can be really disappointing when you get your pay check. I especially like how you said "I'll buy an accordian, an expensive steak" because it made me chuckle. Nice picture!

  2. Just like Angie, I liked your line where you said, "I'll buy an accordion, an expensive steak!" because that also made me laugh. I wish you the best of luck at your job and saving up money! Nice poem!
